Amrit KC (BABUDA): A Journey from Filmmaker to Melodious Rapper !!
Amrit KC, widely known by his stage name BABUDA, is a passionate filmmaker and emerging rapper, whose artistic journey has been defined by his love for storytelling and music. Born in 1994 in the quaint village of Pahire, near Pokhara, Nepal, Babuda’s creative spirit was nurtured by the rich cultural landscape of his homeland.
With a bachelor’s degree in Motion Picture Photography from Oscar college of film studies, Babuda embarked on his filmmaking journey in 2015. His career began with a pivotal role in the feature film Bijuli Machine, where he contributed as an actor, assistant director, BTS videographer, and still photographer. This project was a transformative experience for Babuda, shaping his perspective on filmmaking and deepening his passion for the craft.Since then, Babuda has amassed a diverse portfolio, working on various TV commercials, documentaries, and music videos.
His collaborations with prominent artists like Balen, Mc Flo, and Uniq Poet have produced notable works, including the music video Gorkhali Toph and Straight Outta Kathmandu featuring Bluess and Uniq Poet. These projects marked his significant entry into the hip-hop industry, where he left an indelible mark with his distinct visual style and storytelling ability.
Currently residing in Ayr, Scotland, Babuda is completing his master’s degree in creative media Practice. This academic pursuit has further refined his creative approach, blending his filmmaking expertise with newfound musical talents. Although his introduction to music dates to 2012 through his connection with Mc Flo, it wasn’t until he arrived in Scotland that he fully embraced his potential as a rapper.
Babuda recently released his debut album, MOM (Man of Memories), a collection of eight songs that showcase his versatility as a musician. Two music videos from the album have already been released, with another currently in post-production. His work continues to evolve, reflecting a unique fusion of his experiences in both filmmaking and music.
